5 REALLY Last Minute Fathers Day Gift Ideas

Father's Day Gift IdeasSummer is finally here and with all the comings and goings and end of school excitement you forgot about Fathers Day. Well, the good news is you didn’t miss it. But, the bad news is that its Sunday! A bit to late to order anything online, but maybe you can do something a little more creative than another tie.

  1. Time – Dads doen’t always want a new thing, sometimes just a cup of coffee or even a spontaneous overnight camp-out would be a memorable gift.
  2. Beer – If your dad is like mine, then he’d love an evening at a local brewery sampling some of the local craft brews.
  3. Gift Certificates – I know, I know. It sounds like such a cop-out. But, maybe go more along the lines of a fancy restaurant for a date night with mom. There really is no better gift for dad than scoring points with mom.
  4. Local Shows – Check the local paper and see if any good comedy acts or bands are playing in your area.
  5. DIY Gift – You use to give your dad beautiful works of art that he treasured so dearly, so dig into your inner artist. Here is a cool little mustache mug DIY we found that might do the trick.

4. Settlers of Catan

Strategy Board Games

Settlers of Catan is the first and most popular of the new wave of strategy games originating in Germany.

Each player develops the area around Carcassonne while deploying their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters, and in the fields. The skill of the players to develop the area will determine who is victorious. The game is for ages 8 and up and 2 to 5 players.

6. Dominion

Modern Classic Board GamesDominion is another popular strategy game in the style of Settlers of Catan. You are a monarch, like your parents before you, a ruler of a small pleasant kingdom of rivers and evergreens. Unlike your parents, however, you have hopes and dreams. You want a bigger and more pleasant kingdom, with more rivers and a wider variety of trees. You want a Dominion.

In all directions lie fiefs, freeholds, and feodums. All are small bits of land, controlled by petty lords and verging on anarchy. You will bring civilization to these people, uniting them under your banner. But wait. It must be something in the air, several other monarchs have had the exact same idea. You must race to get as much of the unclaimed land as possible, fending them off along the way. To do this you will hire minions, construct buildings, spruce up your castle, and fill the coffers of your treasury.
